The Official Rotherham United Match Thread (Sponsored by A Gig in Sheffield "for all your "watching the Gills first" needs")

This is an intriguing one for me and shows what a competitive and dare I say at best average division this is. Depending on our and other results, we could be top after tomorrow. Likewise a loss and results go against us and we could be below Rotherham who are keeping our 17th place warm for us...

Was it that long ago. Bloody hell. Remember that one well as we won - recall them and us being in the relegation battle and sidebe and Henderson scoring (one of them a brace, if I remember rightly).

Good luck to him. Always out in a good shift and despite various failings scored some cracking goals for us. Right time to move on and a good National Leagur club is probably the right level for him to rebuild his career.

    Kent Senior Cup 2026/27.

I saw him at the Sutton v Folkestone friendly pre-season and had a chat - was watching Harvey, his son who plays for Folkestone as does his other son now. Wasn’t as tall or big as I envisaged - I’m 6’4” and 16 stone, he was probably a similar weight and a few inches shorter, but a nice chap who...

    Kent Senior Cup 2026/27.

Sounds like someone who’s been listening to too much of Billy Bullshitters BS. Can’t see what the issue is with 3G pitches. It’s not that, but grass pitches where most of our players have suffered injuries. Eaves, Dack and the invisible man, Antwi, are surely desperate for minutes in their legs?

Either worrying news that he’s injured or a complete waste do everyone’s time. If he’s not going to play, let’s have him back for Saturday

    Who's joining the Gills?

Spot on. Never had pace (don’t get me wrong - a bit like Danny Kedwell who had no pace he was always a willing runner and run the channels well and there’s no reason to suggest he still won’t), so it’s his aerial ability and physicality that we’ve lacked since, other than Oliver, Tim himself. As...

I stayed in and around Cardiff bay for the Ashes a few years back. Was a glorious sunny day drinking on the bay and two nights out in Cardiff City centre and a great day at the cricket at an underrated ground. Would love to do the rugby there one day. I’ve been to Exeter on business. Was a bit...

Hale has played far more minutes than Goodwin and played through injury on Saturday for the team. And Hale has taken knocks twice and gone off late when games were won/lost. Goodwin has gone off early twice which is far more costly and damaging to the team. Thankfully, it didn't matter...

Yep and as of Saturday all had injuries. Looks like Sillah will be OK for next week, but Goodwin seems to be another sicknote and Hale seems to be guilty of being a little feisty forward who gets kicked off the park with no protection and it seems may be a doubt for Saturday. I said we...

It’s true to say the £600k odd received for Gale and SPH and monies saved on high wages of released players definitely aren’t mine - more life “profit” than “debt”/loss I’m talking about spending.

Personally I’m not sure why we signed the lad from Orient. Easy to say, I know, as he’s injured, but even with him injured and various other midfielders out, we’ve still got plenty of cover there. A LWB would have been a priority for me, given that we know Harris is out for most of the season...

It did also help that they were able to kick players like Hale all over the park and when we breathed in their players were were penalised and in Albarus’s case sent off!

The away me at the memorial ground - to me - is very much what like the Town End scaffold structure would be like With a roof. Rickety and uneven. It was quite funny as me and my son were at the end of a row and there was an uneven step that about a dozen people must’ve stumbled on!

Me too, but I’ve actually been bit more reflective and positive. Yes, we conceded an early goal that was awful defensively in the second minute - more worrying that we (Beccles) had already got away with cluelessly defending a punt upfield which let their man in (and there were several further...

None of us know what the budget is, but I can’t believe there isn’t money available if needed given the high contract players release, lower contract players signed in their place and two Unexpected and unbudgeted large transfer fees received.

Not sure he needs to be the answer - just to bolster the squad up top where we’re looking very thin. TBH, from what I’ve seen so far, even if he’s half the player he was, he’d be a pick above Goodwin.

It’s actually bloody mild in Kent compared to York this morning - even yesterday in the sun had a cold and harsh breeze.

Sadly Folkestone falling apart at the moment, having taken the decision to leave themselves light on the striker front with the main incoming striker being the invisible man, John Akinde, who hasn’t been spotted since playing 10 minutes in a friendly two months ago. Rumours are that Jonny...
