Absolutely gutted by this one. Not just The Wire, Boardwalk Empire, 12 Years a Slave, amazing cameo in The Road, he was even in an episode of The Sopranos. One of my favourites.

He was a troubled guy, apparent cause of death a drug overdose

I'm old enough to remember him playing, what a goal scorer he was.

Being a child in the 80’s my experiences of Jimmy Greaves was Saint and Greavsie and Central news .
Saturday lunchtimes were sorted Football focus then Saint and Greavsie.

Sliding doors moment in 66 with Hurst stepping up and keeping his place ahead of Greaves in the final.

What a goal record Greaves had .

All these people you grew up with on the TV etc now dying doesn't half make you feel just that bit older.

John Challis recently cancelled his speaking tour on 7th September "with immediate effect" so people knew something was seriously wrong.

Rest In Peace Boycie and thanks for the laughs.
