I’m old enough to remember when we sold Andy Gray to Wolves. To the younger members on here Andy Gray was a superb player in his first stint at Villa. Won pfa player & young player of the year. Gutted everybody when he left. But we got 1.5 million for him and 2 years later won the league & 1 year later the european cup. Not saying that will happen now but the club is more important than one player.

I really want prowse. With all this attacking and flare we now apparently have. We need someone like him. Steady. On point. Reliable. Guaranteed. And deliveries.
I think that would be the cherry on the cake I really do.
Obviously the cake that has a bit of mould growing on the edge while we all mourn.

You mean somebody like Henderson.

Seeing as we have a very statistically orientated recruitment department, and the with the addition of Macphee.... surley the next signing must be a dead ball specialist?

Hopefully Ings has a word with JWP.

But on current form, it'll be someone we've never mentioned.

Bailey is supposed to be a good free-kick - corner taker.

Im getting a Big Ron vibe here..... he sold Platt to Bari and built one of the best squads we've ever had with the money..... im hoping history is going to repeat itself

According to the bicycle kick, Bari never paid. He got visited by two Danny Devitos.

We have spent pretty much a 100 million, Jacks gone for the same amount...is that our business done? Are we really looking at spending more with FFP? And if that's our lot are we happy going into the season with this squad? BTW did I mention how much I love Ings?

Our £100m is off set by guaranteed TV money. Jack is jam on top if it happens, wipes out previous debt which means we have more to spend, so in some ways our £100m budget for 2021/22 is reset and we start from zero again.

If we expected to finish in and around the Euros this year - we still have another £30m roughly to play with pre-Jack sale (MINUS the additional losses from Covid, no matchday etc and we don't know what they are given the FFP fudge of 'combining seasons' to help clubs).

But if Jack goes, my guess is we could comfortably spunk another £40/50m on a player (whilst making a £50/60m dent on FFP debt) to keep us comfortably safe.

Usual caveats, not an expert, figures aren't my friend - but for me we haven't spent what the TV gives us next year yet, so Jack being all FFP profit gives us £40m plus significant past loss reduction) for Jan and next season as a boost.

That's my thinking, potentially add that extra player who was originally out of our reach on original budget - but if Jack goes, we can try and bring them in whilst knowing it's £50m roughly off FFP at the same time.

Win, win if we want.

Or don't sign, look to Jan and if we don't sign in Jan, that's £100m of FFP for the 2 out of 3 year period full stop.

Which gives us (in short) a £100m bonus to next seasons budget regardless of what happens. Or we can 50/50 it between budget and FFP which would roughly give us a £50m bonus the season after and might zero us FFP wise etc etc.

Again - give or take, not accurate, my assumptions lol
