The Politics Thread

Folks, I've been patient. But look at the title of the thread and post appropriately please.

:wack:

Boris Johnson was reluctant to tighten Covid restrictions as cases rose last autumn because he thought people dying from it were "essentially all over 80", Dominic Cummings has claimed.

Has he produced his other evidence yet, apparently a public enquiry will prove his claims here, so why the slimeball doesn't just prove it I don't know.

Boris should’ve probably known though it’s not just over 80’s, given he nearly died from it in April.

Lol, the irony of being 'given' a seat to make it 'more democratic', which is in itself a contradiction in terms when the place is populated by unelected toffs and bishops.
It is also populated by unelected Labour peers, equally obnoxious.
Get rid of the whole bloody lot of them.

I think this is the right thread?

A top police officer will be put in charge of tackling violence against women and girls in England and Wales, the home secretary will announce.
The creation of the role was recommended in a report after 33-year-old Sarah Everard was murdered in March.

Patel doesn't do irony it seems but she certainly does knee jerk reactions.

The government will publish its full plans to tackle violence against women and girls on Wednesday.
They include a 24-hour rape and sexual assault helpline, £5m of funding to tackle violence in public places at night, and an online tool where women and girls can log areas where they have felt unsafe.

Most people would call that 999 but ensure that the Police don't trawl a victims life in an effort to paint them as asking for it to begin with. And another move to 'felt' rather than 'were'.

So in other words, Patel and the Gov's plan to address this amounts to absolutely shit all in reality but hopefully people will be conned into feeling better.
