Daniel Sturridge has left these shores to, presumably, wind down his less than stellar career in Turkey.
Daniel Sturridge: Ex-Liverpool striker joins Turkish side Trabzonspor
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49426271
Sturridge joined Manchester City’s Academy in 2003 from Coventry City at the age of 13. He moved up to the senior squad in 2006 but eventually let his contract run down before joining Chelsea in 2009 for an initial ribunal agreed fee of £3.5m. With add ons (appearances etc) the final figure rose to over £8m.
Despite his early promise he always seemed to flatter to deceive and his departure from City, presumably because he thought he should have played more often under Mark Hughes, left a bit of a sour taste. Hampered as his career progressed by injuries he was released by the dippers in the summer, unable to compete with Klopp’s dream team up front.
I hope he finds what he’s looking for. I was never quite sure what it was.
