Bolton

So a very poor Tranmere side were allowed to beat them 5-0 on Saturday, yet a good Doncaster side are not to be afforded the same opportunity? That win could eventually keep Tranmere in League One, while the postponement could cause Doncaster to miss promotion or the play-offs.

To take it one stage further, Doncaster now have a week off while Lincoln go to a tough away game at MK Dons. That may mean Lincoln cannot beat/lose to a fresher Doncaster which in turn could have a massive impact on Lincoln's season.

Anyone else picturing a domino effect throughout League One?

How on earth can this be allowed to continue?

Ive said it before, when Notlob were in the premiership their then chairman wanted no relegation from that league. These tossers still think there in it.
Mr Parkinson......get yer boots on. Get any backroom staff who have played registered. Get 7 players so you can start a game......get a friggin life!!!!

The more I think about this, the more I begin to realise that actually, Bolton are dictating terms to the EFL which is totally wrong! They really are taking the piss now and the EFL should tell them that if they do not fulfill the fixture they will be kicked out of the League with immediate effect! As someone mentioned above, a dangerous precedent will be set otherwise.
Bolton cannot unilaterally postpone a match, only the EFL can do that in agreement with the two clubs and after extensive consultation. Doncaster say they know nothing about it and intend to play the game as planned. What Bolton are actually doing is refusing to play the fixture, and on that basis it should be reported as such.

IF the health of their youth players is suffering then yes, they have made the correct decision for the welfare of the players. A kids career shouldn't suffer (as well as everyone else who has suffered, creditors, fans, other teams etc) for the sake of Bolton dragging their corpse of a club through their fixtures.

However, they absolutely should suffer the consequences and quickly. And the EFL should absolutely come down on them, making it clear that no other club can choose to cancel fixtures without some serious consequences.

Let's face it, Bury are gone. Bolton are clinging on by their fingernails and if they are in League 2 next year they will have been very, very lucky.

Shouldn't have got to this. What a mess

Bolton are unable to register any more signings unless given expressed permission by the EFL, and because of that they probably think they can get away with postponing another game because they can say that it's the EFL's fault for not helping them.
But, clubs who start a season in administration can apply to register players to enable them to fulfill fixtures. Which, at the moment, seems as though the EFL doesn't see a problem with Bolton's squad.

The EFL have sprung into action, not!

" Bolton Wanderers has this afternoon announced it will not fulfil its League One fixture against Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday 20 August 2019.

The Club has stated it has taken the decision to postpone the game as a result of concerns over the welfare of its young players, given the frequency of fixtures and the impact this would have on their physical and emotional well-being.

The EFL understands the challenging position the Club currently finds itself in whilst negotiations continue over its purchase. However, it would have expected the Club to have first interfaced with the EFL, giving it an opportunity to consider the application to postpone, and consulted with the Club’s opposition, Doncaster Rovers before making a public announcement.

The EFL remains acutely aware of the ongoing risks this challenging and complex situation has to the integrity of the competition."

EFL need to get a grip of this situation.

As noted previously, this benefits Doncaster going in to Saturday’s game. When will they realise this is screwing up the whole league and throw them both out?

That's fucking pathetic.

I'm pleased I didn't hold my breath.

Imagine Rovers fans taking the afternoon off work, paying for travel and tickets then this! Entitled to a little whinge.

Well yes. As fans we all make plans for trips.
And Donny themselves will have booked and paid for their team bus and other such arrangements. Their supporters clubs will have coaches booked and paid for.
Train tickets will have been paid for.

And all because Bolton don't want 11 players to run around midweek.

And they do have players they can field.
Crucial point.
How bad they are or inexperienced is utterly irrelevant.

There has to be a very large fine for this (and the seemingly ignored previous offence) and I would go for a minimum 6 pts deducted for each offence, and frankly it maybe should be more as this is purely their choice.
And they (and Bury) should be banned from signing any new players until all football debts have been repaid in full.
And if that takes them past the transfer window then tough, totally f*ing tough.

Bolton should have 3 points deducted for every postponement as should Bury. The EFL are way past being a laughing stock. We are not even playing them and them not the EFL have called off the game which is giving a distinct advantage to our next but one opponents.
We should have a few suggestions as to what EFL actually stand for.
