Match Thread: Aston Villa v Bournemouth, Sat 17th August, 3pm

I find it out how so many premier league players are poor at set pieces. When I played amateur league we had 8 wannabe Beckhams over every free kick - yet we had two who were forced to have an interest.

El Ghazi is not a dead ball specialist, that dangerous position in front of the north stand - when he was over the people in the box behind the glass were in more danger than the goal.

I thought it was interesting that McGinn was taking the corners yesterday. Perhaps we have finally found something that SJM can't do?

I was surprised at how bad they were. One he just passed straight to a Bournemouth player.

If Hourihane is not going to be in the team then SJM or Jack or whoever, is going to have provide some quality from set-pieces.

Do the pros outweigh the cons with Hourihane? Since the game is about scoring goals?

Wow Grealish is taking one for the team on here! Fair enough he has an ordinary game but what we don’t always appreciate is what he takes out of the other team by being on the pitch.

Don't worry, Fat Sam will sort it out in the new year once clueless Smith has

Hallelujah, Big Sam will save us from the drop, Local man who understands the club as well as anybody. Pity Carroll has gone to Newcastle but maybe a big offer from big Sam might get him in the big window?

Yep, would need Kevin Nolan to come out of retirement. At 42, I think he’s got a season or two left in him. Whether we could prize him away from Notts County though...

Don't forget what he said was spot on, "You've got to question the quality".:clap:

No way he would have bought players who weren't good enough. Imagine how many there will be on the season ticket waiting list when our useless owners admit they were wrong to appoint a no mark like Smith. Completely out of his depth. Won't even play the players he bought.

It’s only a matter of time brother

Exactly, he was like Friar Tuck who had just got the keys to the tuck shop in the transfer window

No amount of so-called coaching will make a rat born in a stable a horse FACT

Some people just can't handle having money in their pockets........ I should know.
Speaking of coaching, nor can a silk purse be made out of a sow's ear. :slap: You would expect even an amateur like Smith to know his farm yard metaphors.

FWIW, fat **** sam was right and wrong. Right that we need £30-40m players in each position but wrong in that we only needed three. In an ideal world we’d have spent £300-400m on a dozen players. As it is, we’ve got to go with what we’ve got. I’d imagine we’ve got half a dozen players good enough for the prem. worst case scenario, we’ve got the basis of a cracking promotion squad for next season
