Wharton Recalled?

Looks like Scott Wharton is on his way back to Rovers and then straight back out to Bury- we may even face him on Saturday!

Loan players need game time (hence the reason for the loan) and, except MaCarten, we haven't been able to give them that this season and the fact they are going back out on loan (Crookes to Vale, Mensah to Aldershot and Wharton to Bury) means we are between the devil and deep blue sea.

We'll see who comes through the door between the window ends.

He could end up getting promoted with 2 clubs from the same league in the same season.

Over to Scotimp, has that ever happened before?

I don't know about that, but Jason Shackell was promoted and relegated from the Championship in the same season. He started the 2008-09 season at Norwich but was sold to Wolves in September 2008; he then lost his place in the Wolves side in January 2009 and returned to Norwich on loan. Wolves won the title, giving Shackell a Championship winners medal, but Norwich were relegated to League One in the same week, giving him a unique double.

Gregor Buchanan got promoted to the Scottish Premiership with both St Mirren and Livingston last season. Thanks Google.

I’m guessing what you asked google here, but the answer would suggest Scott could be the first to achieve this in the English League.

I like Wharton, a mobile centre back with a potentially good future. He was behind Bossie and Shackell in the pecking order here. And now we have Bolger, he was unlikely to get games unless any of them were injured.

Don't blame him or his parent club for wanting more starts. Good luck for the future, except when against us. No doubt if he does go to Bury he will pass on details of where he thinks we are vulnerable.

Didn't something happen with De Laet where he got a PL winners medal with Leicester and another medal at his loan club or something?

There was definitely one recent years.

Yep, he got the PL winners medal and was on loan at (and also played enough games for) Middlesbrough who were promoted to the PL, finishing 2nd in the Championship.

Wharton would get into most sides in League 2, we are just blessed with 3 very good centre halves now.
