"Plastics! Plastics!"

Mansfield are in the top 3, yet still they cannot drag fans through the turnstiles?. Is there a lack of interest?. Or did they all leg it to Forest when they tumbled into the Conference?. Don't they have plastic in Mansfield then?

The difference in our support imo is the amount of lads who use to be regulars are now accompanied by partners and kids or other members of families , use to be able to have days and weekends away on the piss with mates ,now I have to look on with three kids all in tow ( season ticket holders of course ) ,
That's me! Take my daughter, she loves going and my mates take their kids too, the next generation and we're all season ticket holders too.
When oppo fans are taking the piss about our crowds they do comment about how many families go to watch and how good it is that we get so many families going.

I find this topic intriguing. The fans who are having a pop at us from whichever club they may support should spend more time working on how they can replicate what is happening at SB on the pitch off the pitch in the community rather than be bitching about the fans that success has brought to SB. The club is a real force at present. So to CN DC NC all the player's board members backroom and office staff match day helpers in whatever capacity. Thankyou. I will enjoy it while it lasts.
I agree, they complain about our budget however one area somebody like grimsby could improve on is something like our fan zone which they have heavily mocked.Making our club welcoming to All has helped improved our finances and match takings. No end of our there fans were in the Travis perkins and fan zone yesterday with no hint of trouble spending there money at our ground.Would you?Could you? Do that there, of course you cant and would not want to ,its not rocket science is it? Also the legends lounge ,not my thing but there is amarket for that thing and its paid for itself already!

when you look at those averages, if we have some hope of reaching the 2nd tier, then our average attendances could easily be 15-16,000. Back in the 50's we'd be pulling in 20,000 or more for the big games. Food for serious thought when planning a new stadium.

I think Lincoln and surrounding areas over the last 10-15 years has seen far more development than similar sized City/Towns have and recognised in the predicted population increase.

Not saying students contribute greatly to the attendance however having 15-20000 students now at the University is another avenue of casual support.

I would be very wary on basing a staduim capacity on 1950s gates, other than the obvious. Football did not have much competition back then. Owning a Tv (only 2 channels and limited transmission times} was an absolute luxury, pubs (limited open times) the radio and cinema and not much else, also the World closed at 10:30pm

It is a VERY different World now.

I hadnt been to a home game for 3 yrs .went to the pt vale game with my mate who had never been before to sincil bank. What i found was a total revamp on the last time i went brilliant atmosphere and loved the fan zone good way to engage . To be honest couldnt give a flying f...k on what rival fans think but obviously whatever Lincoln are doing irks them . Jealously is a curse. well done to everybody for getting involved whether its for one game or twenty one .

To be fair to you mate it’s a fair trek to get to an home game nowadays. At least you got to see us win at Cambridge.

I think the main difference between the two Clubs is that Grimsby have a stable home and away support and as a result, don't drop too low but will never get to the attendances we do now whereas our fluctuate in a way that very much mirrors what happens on the pitch like most other clubs and as such, we probably have to work harder at the PR and community side of things.

I actually think Fenty etc takes their support for granted and, from the outside looking in, don't do enough to kick on when things are going well i.e. after their promotion in 2015/16(?).

We had 8,500 in our relegation game and we're probably 'only' 2k-3k above our KA/Schoey days so it's not as if they've not always been there. They have. People just use the lowest figures to fit an argument.

Tbf, I think the 24 hour journey is enough of an excuse!

My Dad always used to say that the view in the 50's was that the club couldn't survive on gates of 12000 (or something like that)

My kids have always been fans since the day they were born ( no choice ) but nowadays they all know other kids down there themselves ,

I only saw a handful of City games over an almost 20 year period after moving to South Wales in 1997, supporting my new local club in the Southern League and eventually becoming very heavily involved with them. Then, to cut a long story short, an increasing disenchantment with certain factions of Merthyr Town's supporters led me to give up on them and revert to actively supporting my 'old club' as much as I could. The fact that this happened just under two years ago is neither here nor there!

So I could be described as solid plastic as I only returned to the fold when City began enjoying a bit of success. On the other hand, I first saw City play all the way back in 1959, becoming a real supporter in 1963, so I have a long history with the Imps which I hope is evident from my writings which have appeared on here and elsewhere.

I began making an effort last season and saw nine games, a total I hope to beat this time around, and now almost feel as if I've never been away despite having missed almost 20 years-worth of ups and downs.
