Good news for English Players

It looks as though Premier League clubs are going to be limited to only having 12 of their 25 man squad as foreigners.

It's about time that Premier were made to promote homegrown players like they naturally do in Spain, France, Germany but this time they will be forced to because the FA will be able to impose quota rules that they cannot currently do because we are in the EU.

In essence it's take or leave it because without the clubs agreeing to it then all players would have to pass the work permit rules. This hopefully means average cheap foreign imports will disappear giving young English players a chance.

Sounds good in principle but the finer workings of it will need to be seen as to who is considered a foreigner and who is not. There will be clauses permitting players who have been resident here for a certain length of time to be considered as non-foreigners.

It will be better some years down the line though as it should stop clubs stockpiling youngsters from the continent and further afield in preference to British youngsters, though it will need to be properly monitored as the Premier league will try and find ways around it.

And the price of average English players will go through the roof in the frenzy to meet the quota

Who gives two monkeys tbh? The Premier League don't give two sh--s about the lower league clubs. I say let them spend the cash hopefully some of it will feed down to the lower clubs like it used to instead of filling the coffers of foreign clubs!
