Summer 2018 Transfer Window Official Thread

It's amazing how calm and reserved Tottenham Supporters have become during the transfer window.

Switching to glide.
Is calm and reserved good for us ? It's like we have always been like this ! what happened ?
It's like when the hormones get together and settle down when you're a growing teenager . Suddenly everything is rosey and the future is lilleywhite.:giggle:

It's easy to be calm now. The Toby negotiation seems to be happening much earlier than the Walker one did last year. We signed Sanchez in the middle of August and Aurier close to deadline day. They were last years big signings.

If the World Cup finishes and there's been no action, this thread will take a different tone.

Word is that Gomes has cleared out his locker at the Barca training facility.

So says Sky.

.

Well he was our major target last summer, but we know we have competition for his signature and that Wolves via their agent/owner have a strong holdover him.

I hope we can get this done, he would be a magnificent addition.

There will be action, we just need it to be of the right quality - no one in the aquisition team is on holiday or going anywhere until the WC starts - whereas normally they'd all be on their hols by now.

Worrying they'd normally be on their hols but makes sense based on our usual last minute flurry.

Bruno Fernandes is leaving Lisbon along with a few other players after a gang of their supporters broke into the training ground and attacked the players with belts. The Portuguese press are reporting their chairman instigated the attack! Madness.

Anyway the player has had a good season stats wise. Anyone seen much of him?

Begs the question. How many people work in the acquisition team? Is it 1 or 2 :-)

Have seen him play a few times. He reminds me of the Wolves chap Neves.

Bruno Fernandes would be a great fit for Spurs, but I don't think anyone is gonna pay 87m for him.

This attack, which is completely insane, may expose what a real price for him may be. 55m prolly.

Eriksen-Dele-Fernandes-Lamela

^^ :rocker:

Toby open talks with united.

The New Spurs, same as the old one.

We really need to make a solid offer for Julian Brandt. We should've signed him last Summer, and now he's doubled his value in one season.

He may well be someone to look at as a CF, next to or in option of Kane. Obviously he's got the wide forward thing down.

It's amazing that a kid that big can move that quick & fast.

Not really. We have made him the single biggest offer we have ever made to any defender; he turned it down; it would have effectively more than double his current pay.

The board has no fears of being competitive when it comes to salaries - it is the length of the contract that is the major issue, Toby's agent/Toby wants a 5 year deal.

For a 29 year old who may well have an injury that dogs him for the rest of his playing career, that's a financially suicidal deal to sign off.

The key is to look at our stats with Toby and without, our performances in the CL with Toby and without - he isn't the supreme rock that we all assume.

I like Toby, but I guess for every club, even for one like us who are turning it's overall wage structure upside down, there are limits.
