Yeah the keeper got a piece of it, powerfully struck penno though and he was going away from the ball so unlikely to stop it unless he got pretty much his entire hand/arm behind it.

Had a very civilised conversation with one of their fans on the way back to the car. Complimented us on our defensive organisation, I said they looked by far the better footballing team on the night but we came to get a job done, which given their recent form was inevitable...

They opened only 2 turnstiles for the league cup game and loads of us didn't get until 15 minutes into the match. Steward explained "we didn't think so many would turn up". I replied "I bet this wouldn't happen at Villa Park" Lot's of people sitting on the steps because there weren't any seats...

I remember a game at a cold Sincil Bank in the 74-75 season I think? A 1-1 draw which we rescued with a late equaliser to keep our unbeaten home record intact. I chiefly remember it for their keeper being Steve D'eath and he was superb, making some very acrobatic saves that impressed 10 year old...

As long as "having fun" along the way doesn't become an expectation that we should be competing at the top end of the table next season then it's all fine..

He would be an instant starter in almost any League 1 team I would suggest, that's a pretty high level of ability already I would think?

It's been a while since we had someone up front who can finish like Joe Taylor...
