With O'Connor out, time to go with a 4 2 3 1 at Blackpool. Corners to beat the first man, long throws used sparingly, players in their best position, play through the thirds rather than aimless punts, TJ as captain, stop making panic substitutions that lose momentum etc etc

Set up with little attacking intent and probably got what we deserved. Players out of their natural position and discipline is lacking. The slide has to be stopped in its tracks otherwise we could easily be dragged into the relegation dog fight.

Playing devil’s advocate, it may be that staying with Walsall and potentially 20 goals plus makes him attractive for a lucrative fee whereas if he returns to us as a lone striker on 2 or 3 goals etc. Could be another Jack Hobbs.

Won the toss and we chose to let Bolton kick towards their fans in the second half. Maybe makes little difference but in my mind it gives the opposition an obvious advantage. Just don’t understand it.

Yesterday was the ‘early goal syndrome’ all over again. Just as at Wembley, with a completely different team, scoring that early goal alters the mentality completely as it’s more keeping in front rather than extending the lead.
