    Aston Villa v Tottenham Match Thread - Sun 21 March @ 19:30 - Sky

As Villans we surely know by now not to get too carried away with the highs or too despondent with the lows. You have to take the season as a whole and we were never strong enough as a squad not to have ups and downs. Had we started the season in this form it would have been expected, if we...

    The Super John McGinn Thread

As much as I love the bloke for his character and application on the pitch McGinn is one of the next group of players who need upgrading if we are to progress. He’s a perfectly adequate premier league midfielder and would be a useful squad member but he doesn’t get in any of the teams currently...

Have to agree. 100% penalty and unbelievably stupid from Cash.

I actually don’t mind Traore, yes he’s frustrating and inconsistent but most wingers are. At least he has it in him to show a bit of quality or come up with a goal. Trez and El Ghazi on the other hand should be squad players at best. Moving forward, for me, we need 1/2 central midfielders...

One observation I would make is that we have, worryingly, re-discovered the knack of shooting ourselves in the foot.

You make a valid point regarding us being predictable and easy to nullify but to suggest we play the ‘worst football in the league’ is ridiculous. Off the top of my head Newcastle, Palace, Sheff Utd, Baggies, Wolves, Burnley, Southampton are far worse.

Hi All, Hard to qualify but that Covid outbreak seems to have really affected Villa. Broke momentum and we haven’t had the same zip / energy to our play since. Would be a shame not to make top 10 after the start we had but important not to lose sight of the progress made.

    The Carabao Cup Thread 2019-20

Banana skin avoided. Weirdest atmosphere I’ve experienced at Villa Park as it was just so comfortable, men against boys and never in doubt - 4-0 up at half time and no one was bothered. Have to wonder was it worth Klopp throwing them kids under the bus for a FIFA vanity project? If nothing...

I actually think one use of VAR should be to check encroachment on penalties. No one should be in the box except the taker and the keeper and I’m quite happy to see re-takes if players break that rule. Same as I’d be happy to see multiple penalties in a match for shirt pulling at corners.

I actually don’t have an issue with the penalty retake, no one should be encroaching into the box at a penalty - if he’d scored it would also needed retaking. It’s not open to interpretation and is one of the examples of VAR being used well in my opinion.

Absolutely fantastic news! A deserved reward for the excellent job he is doing along and a clear acknowledgement that he is the man to lead us forward.

Well I was really looking forward to this one after Norwich, however my wife has just informed me that they will be inducing her into labour on the 19th and then had the audacity to get arsey with me when I pointed out "but we're at home that day!" - women eh?! As it's our first son (already...

Have to disagree - he assisted 3 last night! He's developed into an outstanding player. In fact, I'm going out on a limb and saying Sterling will win the Ballon D'or within the next 3/4 years.
