Briefly flirting with both playoffs and relegation and ending up around mid-table doesn't feel typical to me after the disasters of recent seasons. As always I'm feeling optimistic - how many times have I said that and ended up sadly disappointed ?
I don't know if Sweeney is part of the solution or part of the problem. He is a key part of a coaching setup that seems to have taken a half-way decent team and turned it into a ragbag of no hopers.

I'm not usually one for criticising the Manager but after Crawley last season and Chester this it seems obvious that Mr Askey can't motivate his players.
I think you might be better to ask what brought the change from us scoring freely and winning more than we lost to loosing the 3 on the bounce and not scoring ? Personally I have no idea. Hopefully just loss of confidence and we've now got it back.
If we don't win on Saturday I can't see Mr Askey being with us much longer. Like Old Poolie says there seems to be something fundamental wrong to go from poor defending but scoring plenty to even worse defending and not scoring at all.
Living a long way away now and being old and doddery I haven't attended in person for some time but still retain my support. As always I look forward to the coming season with optimism. Maybe it's just that misplaced optimism but the current crop of new recruits seems more like there's a plan...
