I think Askey views him as a compromise replacement for Dodds. Hasn't got the electric pace but has experience and can the bring the ball out of defence. Like OP says: a solid signing.

Judging by Askey's comments in his Tees Radio interview, we wont be seeing Sylla in a Pools shirt again even if he is still contracted to Pools. Pleased to hear this after his behaviour. Same interview also hinted Featherstone will be away although it is not official.

100% agree about Askey. He seems to be a proper manager. Like Challinor but without the PR skills. He just gets on with the job.

And not forgetting the likes of Hastie, Njoli and Paterson retained because they have two year contracts and not because of any contribution they could make to the team.

The difference today and also against Barrow was that the players in Pools shirts wanted to play for Pools and were prepared to give everything they had. As it turns out, against Crawley, Salford and Newport, this was not the case.

I think Askey is well aware of whats needed in the NL. Who knows what the close season holds with players coming and going but I am 100% sure Askey is the man to lead Pools in the NL. Not saying we'll go straight back up but I am confident we'll have decent season.

My only wish is we keep the score within respectable bounds. I fear the score could be more than the five they got at the Vic. Fingers crossed.

Pools last Football League home game at the Vic today. Wondering when the next one will be and I guess with the club up for sale and all the unknowns that brings, it is by no means certain there will be one ever again. Very dark times.

I'm afraid people have short memories, don't they? Raj has made some terrible decisions this season, no question but he saved the club and what's more he got it back into the FL. Of course we are back to square one but I gather the club are on a much more stable financial situation now than when...

Askey does have significant NL experience and got Macclesfield promoted on a shoe string. He was doing well with York this season till he had a bust up with the chairman. Of course you never know, but my gut feeling is that he would be a good choice of gaffer to make Pools competitive next...

A serious rebuild is obviously required. Some of our better players will leave this summer, I'm thinking Umerah, Sylla and Sterry. We will also be saddled with some players who will most likely never play for us again but are on two year contracts, I believe Hastie is one and there are others...

We just cant seem to defend both goals today were from defensive errors. Askey will need to build a whole new team based on a solid defence cos otherwise it will be conference north time.

I recall Corporal Frazer from Dads Army. Its the hope that kills you but in some ways its lucky that there is no hope. The Maths tell us we are not down yet but I think most Poolies know the situation is hopeless.
