Oh FFS!

Better now than after the season has started I guess. At least we won't have to cancel any friendlies. I don't really get the point of testing if they have to isolate even after multiple negatives though, just like with Mount and Chilwell during the Euros. Might as well save some money and not bother with all that.

As cases rise, everyone I know is getting pinged. Turn it off, it'll be a bit bumpy now for a month, but it is absolutely the right thing to do.

Project fear striking out hardest as it is losing its grip.

The 1200 'leading scientists', was an open list, btw, and includes midwives, nurses and anyone else who put thier name to the list. Susan Michie our favourite 'lock em down forever' communist is in there. If she signed it, then you know its pretty bogus.

I’m not turning mine off
cos I never bothered with it got the virus early doors survived it and the only precaution taken since is wearing a mask in shops for the benefit of others we’ve had people at work self isolate 2 and 3 sometimes 4 times these are what are known as idle feckers who want extra hols most have had the virus over a yr ago and not likely to get it again as I haven’t time to get on with life and live with it if you catch it and you have had the vaccine it’s highly unlikely to kill you now

Owd pants down Ferguson has taken a few minutes off from knobbing the big Dutch girl to do the TV rounds. 'We're heading for 100,000 cases a day.!'. Great, that means we get to herd immunity that bit faster then.

Meanwhile, today we have as many cases as we did in wave 3, but hospitalisations are 3,800 not 38,000, average stays are 4 days not 14, and deaths are 40 not 1,000.

You think anyone cares, or is it just fear porn all day about how un-compassionate you are. My mask goes in the bin tonight.

Sadly don't bet on it..........media curling their dirty fingers around the rising numbers story and tightening their grip
I haven’t bought or read a paper regularly this century I stopped watching the news on tv last yr I catch it occasionally now and then and my life is no different probably better as I don’t worry about stuff that doesn’t affect my immediate world people should try it

I hope when they do the inevitable inquest in the next couple of years, the media's role in the pandemic is also looked at. Right from the start, when they caused mass panic buying by posting photos of empty shelves, they have made the whole situation much worse than it needed to be. I still don't understand why they still use the "died within 28 days of a positive test" nonsense when a study in March/April time showed that around 60% of them didn't have C19 listed as a potential cause of death on the death certificate, while only around 15% had it listed it as a likely cause of death. It can't be a good thing when the media are obsessed with painting a picture that this is the worst country in the world.

Anyway, we have release a brief statement to the Yorkshire Post about the story in the Sun:

Reports in the Sun are not entirely accurate, but we are taking precautionary measures.

I don't know what that means though. Maybe only some of the players had to isolate?

That suggests that parts of their report are accurate which is pretty amazing for the sun I think

A further update in the Star says that only one player tested positive, but another had to stay isolated in Spain despite testing negative, presumably the player's roommate on the trip.

It also says that everyone is due back in training by the end of next week. I hope we can squeeze a behind closed doors match in next weekend. Going into the new season having played only two matches against professional teams would not be ideal.

It was reported we had at least a couple of behind closed doors games arranged as well as those advertised but they weren’t letting on where or when, dunno what all the secrecy is about 🤷‍♂️

No secrets at Hillsborough. Lost 2-0 to Barnsley yesterday. They keep hoping half a dozen new signings turn up this week. I have a feeling they might be very disappointed...
