US Presidential election

We need to reclaim the land for nature and kill off the meat industry! 75% of our land is used to grow grass to feed animals to feed us! Gone off on a tangent but never mind!
Agree.
I’m not a veggie but it’s the way forward.
Encourage British farmers to feed Britain and forget about oversupply for export.
It’s the sustainable way.

Exactly...Why are we? No logical reason for it? If we can’t kill off the meat industry (which we could) there should be a tax on red meat! 20% tax on unprocessed red meat would save lives and raise billions! The government already tax harmful products to reduce their consumption, such as sugar, alcohol and tobacco, so why not red meat?

And any land that was being used to keep animals will need to be converted into land to grow various plants to replace the lost calories and nutrients that was being provided by meat.

There has also been a number of research papers (suppressed as right wing climate change deniers by people who are almost certainly vegans) that if the world adopted a vegan diet then due to the amount of nutrients that all the plant life needed to grow sufficient food to feed the world, you would within a decade** strip the land of nutrients and basically make the soil infertile. You would a considerable amount of chemical lab made fertiliser that needs to be transported around the world to stop killing the soil. Manure wouldn't obviously be an option.

Meat is good and an important part of a diet of a species that is an omnivore. The real issue is how much is needed for a healthy diet rather than vegans trying to ban outright.

** exact estimate varies slightly with each study so decade is a rough average
