The problem is that there exists in society a huge amount of bias and discrimination against many groups. You seem to be advocating just ignoring it and hoping that things will naturally sort themselves out to the extent that in a few years we will all be holding hands and singing Kumbaya.
That, I think, is a view that can only be held by a privileged, white, heterosexual male living in a western country.
Actually you are completely wrong I am not advocating ignoring it at all and I know there is bias and descrimnation everywhere. However you have missed the point completely. It will only be a non issue when it isn't something that is constantly referred to which is the point I am making. Until that point it will always polarise the idiots on both sides.
And yes I maybe a white heterosexual male as you put it but to say that I hold that view because of that is in itself stereotyping and derogatory because you nothing about me.
For your information I have experienced racism first hand on many occasions and trust me it's vile. I had a girlfriend of Indian descent when I was at University and that was in the late 80's early 90's so I will let you figure that one out for yourself as to the type of comments thrown my way and hers for the couple of years we were together. Trust me it wasn't only coming from white people either so don't think it only goes one way.
However what I will say is that even then it was only a minority of mindless morons. The trouble is some people are just to ignorant to educate.
