Don’t forget facking Millwaaaarrrllll

I have been to both old an new grounds at Millwall; the difference is like night and day.

You approached the old ground by walking under a series of railway bridges, which was like walking through a tunnel; inside the ground was horrific - no segregation, no protection, an absolute nightmare.

The new ground is delightful in comparison.

I even called into a few pubs around the ground for a drink without attracting any aggravation; and it was crystal clear who I was supporting.

They have some horrible bastards supporting them but they also have some genuine supporters

I also found that with Brentford, both online and in person.

When we went down to League 1 they were our second home game I think. I tried having a chat with some of their fans, just being friendly; I was shocked by their attitude. Just wasn't used to the arrogance, dismissiveness etc. I had expected the lower leagues to be friendlier; Brentford fans were anything but.

I have found that only a handful of times; Wigan, Accrington being two notable examples. Bournemouth too, although I haven't personally been down there.

I'm surprised by your online comments, they are the only forum who have threads dedicated to the opposition and analysing how they play, rating opposition players etc. It can be critical sure but there is lots of complimentary stuff in their too. The vast majority conceded that we utterly did a number on them at GP.

There was segregation at the Old Den, and a police escort after the game. The New Den definitely feels safer, that is until Milwall fans dress up as coppers and direct your coach into a dead end on a nearby estate and promptly attack...

There are two types of Brentford and Fulham fans, the long suffering ones who have a healthy sense of realism and humour, and the newer ones who are entitled and arrogant.

Brentford in particular is very divided between the traditional fans and those they term tourist wankers (newer fans attracted by their success). It's come to blows more than once.

There is a sense of pride in their style and what they've achieved with their limited resources, which I don't find unreasonable. Those of us old enough might remember when we were similarly proud...

Yes, all Clubs have their share of arses, some more than others; I tend to try and steer clear of the gob shites, something I found impossible at Brentford, but I met a very small cross section.

When I went Bus driver would go no closer to the ground than Vauxhall Bridge, I think it was; we had to then catch the tube to New Cross Gate.

If I remember correctly, you came out of the station, turned down Cold Blow Lane, under that tunnel, turned left and the Ground was in front of you.

That was the end with that poxy little shed at the back; the away supporters that day were in the far right hand corner until they got scattered all around the place.

The station was out of bounds on the way back as there was a crowd at the entrance giving everyone the third degree as they entered.

We jumped on a bus which we thought was heading in the right direction and ended up near the Elephant and Castle.

Some of the others on our coach had a right kicking; did not bother going back there after that day.

Stood near a group of lads (20 or so) in spoons by Trafalgar Square a year or so ago. Such nice, polite boys, I couldn't work out who there team was, but thinking from there accents they might be Fulham.
As we were leaving l asked one of them.
'Millwall mate'.
Had to smile.

On a more positive, places I have been where I found the people absolutely sound as a pound;

QPR
Crewe
Ipswich
Swansea
West Brom
Wednesday
Rotherham
Pompey
Tranmere
Cheltenham

These are based on varying volumes of experience. I've been to Millmoor loads of times (not the new one) and West Brom and Crewe loads, but only one visit to Pompey and Swansea.

Fans I expected to be nice but was really disappointed with (away games only)

Sunderland
Accrington
Posh
Bolton
Preston
Charlton
Newcastle- although I found them extremely unfriendly on match night and insanely friendly once they had comfortably beaten us

Sad to say me and my pals weren’t much into exchanging pleasantries with opposition fans back in the day. I’ve followed Forest all over the place and strangely some of most welcoming lads I’ve met was in Liverpool and a cracking session with some Arsenal boys in Finsbury Park one afternoon before a night game. Haven’t had to be on my toes very often but escaped a good shooing by Sunderland outside the old Roker Park - surrounded by terraced houses it was a fuckin nightmare - horrible bastards too - big tough guys 30 on to 4 of us!!

There must have been more of them in your day when there were hardly any clubs.

The sample size is too small for me to have ever made a judgement :rotfl:

Yes, tongue in cheek, it looks as though football info has taken a backseat at the moment. At that time, and it's not recent, Notts had a fairly decent side and I had a mate who was a Notts fan so I had no choice. Not much of a ground in those days though although the fans were good in general, can't recall ever being involved in any punchups.

I wonder what they all think of us.

Yes, I had the same experience with Newcastle.

Even spent the night there out on the Toon.

Swansea won't fear Brentford, IMO. They have the momentum and Brentford aren't all that. Having said that I'll stick with my original prediction of a Brentford v Fulham final with Fulham prevailing.

It will be about bottle. Who has the most

Going into a playoff game 0-1 down is a huge pressure. Some teams thrive on it, some wilt.

But going into a playoff game 1-0 up is a huge pressure as well. A lot of people forget that against Blackpool, we ended the first leg 2-1 down and then equalised at the city ground. The atmosphere was absolutely rocking

And that's where the wheels fell off. In fact, in three of our four (and it only being four will piss me off forever) playoff years the whole thing fell apart when we had a clear advantage.

So can Swansea handle the pressure of being in front? Of course they can, because they are not a pathetic bottling club like Forest whose owners can't even he arsed to put anything out to fans a week after a shocking disaster, other than a pathetic "teaser" to sell shirts
