City Gossip

Manchester City FC can confirm that it has today received a reprimand and a CHF 370,000 fine following the decision of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee concerning the international transfer of players under the age of 18, particularly in relation to their trial periods and participation in friendly games.

The Club accepts responsibility for the breaches which arose as a result of misinterpretation of the regulations in question. All of the breaches occurred before December 2016 when guidance on the interpretation of the provisions was issued, since which date Manchester City has been fully compliant.
The Club regards highly and shares FIFA’s determination to ensure the protection of minors in football and has cooperated fully with the investigation which has been transparent and evidenced based at all times.

Suck it up Chelski

We must have a better legal team, as for the Dippers fans they want points docked because they think that is the only way they will win the Premier.

Sky washed it off as something similar to Chelsea but admitted fifa did not tell them the exact details, so how do they know it was similar to Chelsea..

By all accounts we have trialled players in our games but did not sign them up, which could be a part of the misinterpretation that if we did not sign them it did not matter how old they were.

That is a total guess on my part.

If Chelsea have done the same thing then their ban should be removed but it is too late now to rectify that

I have heard explanations that the difference was City coughed to it and cooperated whereas Chelsea didn’t admit any wrong doing? There is also an issue of scale - I believe Chelsea had 29 players and City 8 but this may not be relevant. That’s like being only ‘slightly guilty’.

Either way the details will get lost in the noise - the easy headlines will be City get away with it, same offence, different punishment etc etc. I expect Chelsea fans to be especially aggrieved this morning.

Meanwhile if you want something to make you smile this morning just read some of the comments from dippers beneath this article inthe Liverpool Pravda, Sorry Echo.....

It was the wording 'misinterpretation of the rules' that I based my guess on.

Yes we held our hands up and got a fair justice.

we await the FFP ruling yet, which is taking its time

IF and I say IF Munchen had put in a bid, we would not have played him

I imagine that had BM put in a bid then they would have been only too happy to tell the world that negotiations had begun. I'm fairly ambivalent about Sane, he could have signed a new contract but didn't. He's still young, he could run his contract down and leave for nothing but instead get paid a massive salary from BM/a.n other. He could stay and learn from the best and then leave when PG leaves. Only thing is certain is that he won't be playing this side of the winter break.

(Wizard of) OZ11 = an apparent breathe of fresh air. He's probably only too happy to sign anything that's put in front of him.

Kenny and BE, this is a business and I agree that in a fantasy football League video game we would be so annoyed with him that we would not play him.

However this time he has two years on his deal with us and we will sell him if he does not sign, he is a valuable commodity against the wolves of the FFP and we will get a decent amount for him

....and the inevitable response as they go into meltdown. And we thought it was only City that the football authorities detested....
