Culture has to be bought into by everyone, from top down. Nothing in his tenure to date, nor at Olympiakos is particularly inspiring. Not being Fawaz isn't the bar for an owner...
You don't think there were other issues with Grabban beyond the odd injury?
It depends on what you call inspiring; I'm fairly sure a good deal of our support base have been inspired; inspired sufficiently to turn up in record numbers.
There are plenty of things to be inspired about; the club is in the process of being re built from top to bottom, we are run professionally, we have a new stand on the way and a makeover for the rest of the ground; it may be small beer at the end of the day but its something the previous two owners could not manage.
Even the playing side has displayed some improvement; not enough, granted, and it could have been better but for the management churn.
I do not blame Marinakis for sacking Warburton, I blame him for appointing him in the first place; there's no doubt he would have gotten us out of the Championship, not in the direction we all want though.
I'm not sure how the owner can be blamed for Karanka walking; do you not appoint a Director of Football just because the manager does not want one?
Karanka's departure put us on the spot; the number one choice as replacement priced himself out of the market, and it all happened at a time when we still had realistic hopes of the play offs and a January window to play with.
So, you may not accept it but there have been extenuating circumstances to date.
Going back to the culture and philosophy we all would like; given that the planning and implementation does not happen at the drop of a hat, and the fact that you do not always get it right first time of asking, and that we have a new Director of Football, 7 months into his tenure, who will be driving all of this, how long are you prepared to give them?
