EU strategy to destroy the Chequers ‘agreement’...

It's nonsense to suggest that opinion polls and general public sentiment count for nothing. It that were the case France would have stuck to its fuel tax proposals.

The same goes for a non-binding referendum as we had; if you think otherwise, under what statute is it covered.

The two main parties campaigning to leave and getting the minority of the votes will do me. Probably not you, but never mind eh? lol

Opinion polls lol.
I predicted both the brexit result, the Labour surge at the last general election and the Trump victory. The super polls were wrong on all of them.

Polls - Just another method of giving another headline and ‘just anither way to devide us’.

This is not brexit, it is just the leaving arrangements to lead to two more years to form and agree the brexit future arrangement with the eu. The backstop is only there as a legal safeguard in case our politicians cannot agree a deal so maybe we should pull the finger out asap. Or maybe just add an amendment to take back the backstop element to the EU.

The polling is from Yougov, the only polling organisation that correctly predicted the outcome of the general election. They did so by utilising data obtained from the referendum. The backstop will last forever unless we can come up with a mutually satisfactory solution to the Irish border question. The draft withdrawal agreement does not allow either side to withdraw from the backstop unilaterally. Just knocking out the backstop will effectively sink the draft agreement anyway. Unless there is regulatory alignment between the EU and the U.K. It is difficult to see how there will ever be a solution. No wonder both sides of the brexit argument are pissed off.

But the EU are about to collapse and give us a good deal. They need us more than we need them. We were told this. Please don't tell me we were sold a pup. Surely the ERG have the best interests of the working class at heart.

We should have had the equivalent of the commercial "cooling off" period so that when people realised they'd bought shit they could send it back.

Brexit based largely on emotion and feelings plus ignorance of actual EU powers amd how the institution works. There are some valid criticisms of the EU but imo the issue was way beyond the understanding of the average voter. By dint of my job I know more than most but still didn't/don't know enough.

To be fair, unlike your Johnsons and your Goves with all their vague bullshit about sovereignty, the Britannia Unchained mob (Patel, Raab and the rest of the Randian mentalists) were the only Brexiters to positively present what they actually wanted out of it - namely to turn the country into a zero-tax sweatshop.

That's what the whole project was all about. Flogging off what's left of the national assets to speculators and making disaster capitalists even richer.

If that's what you want, then fair enough, But anyone pretending this might somehow lead to some kind of Socialism-in-one-country wonderland is at best seriously deluded. If you lie down with dogs, you're sure as hell going to get fleas.

I'll bow to no-one when it comes to looney-Leftism, but Lexitry is the most self-indulgent, delusional and reckless thing going. Brexit as it exists now is a right-wing, xenophobic project promoted by billionaires, and anyone who enables it - no matter how well-intentioned - it is the worst kind of useful idiot. It's the socialism of fools.

Well Karl did say that capitalism had to develop into its purist, highest state before its contradictions became fully manifest and the epoch of revolution was finally entered er.. in...er... to

Only 28% polled wanted to remain in the UK according to Waldo's favourite pollsters.

You used to be paranoid, before the boogeyman started comin' to get ya !

I don't know where on earth you got that from, but it looks like staying in was significantly more popular than any of the other options.

Go on then. A positive vision for Brexit, spelling out exactly what the actual, specific benefits for ordinary people are and why they are better than what we've already got. The Britannia Unchained Krew have already done their part of the bargain and they're in the driving seat. I'll give you an hour to come up with something more appealing before I call bullshit.

I've decide to give up altogether jokerman.

I was stupid enough to believe Cameron when I saw him in Dover, when he said to me, make no mistake, a vote to leave is a vote to leave the single market and customs union.
This is a once in a generation vote and the Government will adhere to the result.
Unfortunely he then went on to say that a vote to leave was for quitters, and he's no quitter.
He then quit !

I've now got to the stage where I don't really give a flying f*ck either way anymore.
They have ground me down.
The EU has done what the EU does best (with the help of the UK Quislings) and that is ignore the voters until they can manufacture the result that they want.
Ireland - vote again
Holland - vote again
Denmark - vote again

and now the UK - vote again ?
who knows?

What if the result is the same … then just keep on f*cking voting until it's not ![/QUOTE
Quislings? FFS, how childish are you? I don't think anyone's opposition to brexit, be that Parliament or Joe Public, will result in arrests and executions. That is more likely to happen if Robinson and his ilk get their own way. And people have a go at WK and name calling...jeez?

GBN for you - thinks it stinks but can't tell you why.

Unlike Wayne who chooses to cover his eyes and ears when I have told him time and time again. Let's try it again slowly. No........control.......over....... excessive........EU.....immigration...........in........an........already......overcrowded........ island.

1. It appeals to me to not have to send a net £250 million every week in to an organisation from which we import far more than we export resulting in a huge trade deficit.
2. It appeals to me not to have our overcrowded roads, overstretched public services and overcrowded hospitals made far worse by a policy that the government has absolutely no control over. Unskilled Poles, Romanians, Bulgarians, etc, probably still can not believe their luck.

When you call bullshit by the way, please accompany your message with the video or article where Patel, Raab or anyone else makes reference to zero-tax or sweatshop. Oh no, of course, you just know that's what Raab is after, probably better than he does. He is a brexiteer so he looks shifty, must be machiavellian and have an ulterior motive.

Something positive, please. There are many ways to contol immigration, and the most effective would be to strictly enforce a minimum wage with no exceptions.

Also, what percentage of overall immigration comes from the EU and why do you want to stop British people having the right to work abroad? Hundreds of thousands already do so and are now completely fucked over. What have you got to say to them?
